Welcome to new committee members

The ACigs committee is excited to welcome Attila Marta to the committee. Attila is a Director of Red Earth Engineering, a specialist engineering company established in 2009, providing services in geotechnical, geosynthetics and civil engineering. He has more than 25 years’ experience in civil and geotechnical engineering, construction and materials testing in Australia and overseas. Attila specialises in providing technical leadership in the detailed design, certification and construction oversight of major civil infrastructure projects to the oil and gas, civil infrastructure and mining sectors. He is also a subject matter expert in the field of geosynthetics.

During his career Attila has created, and then managed high performing design teams within leading multi-national engineering consultancies. He has led business development, project management and the technical direction of multi-disciplinary project teams around the world.

Attila’s specific areas of interest and capability include designing with geosynthetic products and particularly multi-layered liner systems for storing or capping aggressive fluids or soils. His expertise in geotechnical engineering and experience as a civil/structural designer has allowed him to develop innovative solutions.

Attila enjoys applying his people and communication skills through technical leadership and team management. He has authored technical papers in the field of geosynthetics and is regularly invited to speak as an industry expert.

The ACigs committee is excited to also welcome Preston Kendall to head up our Young Members portfolio.  Preston is a civil engineer and the National Business Engineer for Axter Australia.  With a focus on innovative products, applications and markets, his experience includes coastal engineering, geosynthetic filtration, geosynthetic containment, water resources, geotextile application design and engineering design software development.  Preston has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics as well as Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering with a focus in Geosystems Engineering from Georgia Tech.  Preston is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and a Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the state of Texas.  Preston is an elected council member for the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and a Co-Chair of the IGS Young Members Committee.
