The Malek Bouazza Lecture
The Australasian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (ACIGS) invites nominations for the Malek Bouazza Lecture, to be delivered at GEOANZ 2027.
Nominations close: 6 November 2026
About the Lecture
Established by the ACIGS executive committee in 2024, the Malek Bouazza Lecture recognises the outstanding contributions of Prof. Malek Bouazza to the technical advancement of geosynthetics and to the development of ACIGS.
The lecture (approximately one hour) is presented at each GEOANZ conference, accompanied by a written paper published in the conference proceedings. It focuses strictly on topics related to geosynthetics, with particular emphasis on geosynthetic barrier systems, and aims to enhance the understanding and application of geosynthetics.
An ACIGS plaque is presented to the Lecturer by the ACIGS President and the GEOANZ Conference Chair.
