ACIGS Forum:

“Geosynthetic Supply Chains – Understanding the Challenges”

Date: Tuesday, 31 March 2026
Time: 3:00–4:30 PM AEST (Brisbane time)

The ACIGS committee understands the challenges currently facing global supply chains due to the evolving world crisis. Following discussion of the Iran conflict and its potential supply‑side implications, designers and installers on the committee agreed that it would be valuable to convene an ACIGS forum to gather expert views on how these issues may affect the geosynthetics market throughout 2026.

This session aims to provide realistic, informed insights—without creating unnecessary concern—so that designers, installers, suppliers, and other stakeholders can better understand the potential impacts on availability, logistics, costs, and project planning.

📚 Proposed Program

High-Level Independent Overview – 10 min
Context and global outlook.

Ocean Freight & Transport Impacts – 10 min
Expected changes to ocean and road freight conditions.

Global Companies Views – 10 min
Perspectives from international geosynthetics suppliers, noting that membrane supply may face the earliest effects.

Regional View – 10 min
Short‑term impacts affecting Southeast Asian/ Australians suppliers.

Manufacturers and suppliers will cover:

  • Short‑term supply challenges
  • Recycled polymer availability
  • Operational considerations

Installer / Contractor Perspective – 5 min
Discussion of contract clauses, rise‑and‑fall mechanisms, material availability, and project scheduling.

🎯 Additional Concepts & Discussion Topics

The forum will also touch on broader themes including:

  • Sustainability
  • Globalisation and localisation
  • Resilient supply chains
  • Resin availability and potential quality variability
  • Future impacts such as availability constraints, price movements, and force majeure implications

 🎤 Purpose of the Forum

The intention of the forum is to:

  • Provide transparency and informed expert insights
  • Allow companies to explain their challenges
  • Help industry professionals prepare for possible 2026 supply‑chain impacts
  • Support understanding across the design, installation, and supply sectors

The session will end with a Q&A.

ACIGS will record the session and share it with members afterward.

We look forward to your participation as we collectively navigate the uncertainties ahead.
